Biography
Jeff Davis
Born Chicago, Illinois August 15, 1944
Raised in Yakima, Washington. Junior High School in Cheyenne, Wyoming. High School and Junior College in Boise, Idaho. Undergraduate work in Dallas, Texas,(Southern Methodist University and Dallas Baptist College). Graduate work at the University of South Carolina (M. Mus. in Composition, the first awarded by that institution).
Attended the National Music Camp, Interlochen, Michigan. Distinguished Alumnus, 1974.
Began composing at age four. Studied composition with Howard Hanson, Deems Taylor, Don Gillis.
Began studying carillon with Ronald Barnes in 1984. Passed Guild of Carillonneurs in North America Examination in 1988. Was President of GCNA from 1996-2000. In 1999 took position as University Carillonist at The University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee. In 2000 accepted position as University Carillonist at The University of California at Berkeley.
