Biography

Kristen Williams, a talented pianist and soprano soloist, is a versatile artist who is comfortable performing in a variety of genres. Kristen’s playing has been described as "having a great sense of rhythm and syncopation with a light but firm touch.”

Williams is the executive director of the Great Noise Ensemble, Washington DC's premiere contemporary classical chamber music group, with whom she has premiered many new works. She has been a soprano soloist with St. Patrick's Catholic Church Choir in Washington DC.

Recent piano performances include solo and collaborative work at THE ARC Theater in Washington DC,The Jane Franklin Dance Company, and master classes in Castres, France. In order to continue growing as an artist she currently studies piano with Robert Durso and voice with Cate Frazier-Neely. Kristen recently premiered a new work from composer Blair Goins.

American composers Ned Rorem, Pauline Oliveros, Leo Kraft and seven other celebrated American composers composed works for the Basso Moderno Duo to be premiered at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in July 2007.

In March 2008, the Basso Moderno Duo premiered seven new works at the Women Composers Festival in Hartford, Connecticut.
